Same went for FDR.
Politicians do demand - and the press often does respect - the desire for medical privacy. But equally, I certainly think the public might demand candour. In this case, I think Republican candidates are hiding their vaccination status from GOP voters because they are afraid of how nutty they are. So privacy is not the real reason. It's fear of seeming to be sane to people who value irrationality and bad sources of information.
