It was NBC that miscounted last time, wasn't it?

I find worldometers knows what it's doing. But there may be differences in the periods they and NBC use. Being international, Worldometers finishes its daily count at the same time everywhere, which is before the day is complete in the US.

But again, the weirdly huge number looks a bit dodgy to me. May include updates from weekend days.
