Deaths are up to 2.1k, but if it's a short surge replacing a long but endless feed of new deaths, any society would probably accept the cost (except, of course, those that died earlier than they might have).

If, as seems to be the case, omicron has replaced delta, that's good news. Omicron is horrid but delta was horrider.

The good news is it replaces delta and is milder.

The bad news is, a snowfall is harmless enough, but an avalanche can be incredibly destructive.
