The Christmas/New Years backlog.

It looked wrong.

But it was a helluva day for new covid cases yesterday, all the same. Record.

Bloomberg News, for instance, wrongly said that "more than 1 million people in the US were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Monday." The headline for that story read, "US Sets Global Daily Record of Over 1 Million Virus Cases." Bloomberg's story was later updated with a much better headline ("U.S. Logs Record 1 Million Virus Cases With Data Delay") and a much better lede ("The U.S. added more than 1 million people to its Covid-19 case count on Monday as the true scope of a surge in infections over the holidays began to round into view"). A correction was also appended to the story. But it's confusing why nearly two years into this pandemic, basic numbers are being garbled in such a way...
