We have 219k cases, a record, but deaths are declining. Because it is so contagious, Omicron is replacing Delta in the covid food chain, giving people better immunity against earlier variants.

I think for society as a whole, Omicron is on balance more benign than harmful relative to Delta, but there are still going to be deaths, particularly among unvaccinated people who can't dodge the Omicron bullet.

Not seeing it on Worldometers myself.

But I won't be surprised if it happens in the next few weeks.

Omicron isn't causing nearly as many deaths, so it isn't so alarming - except to the extent that hospitals lose staff.
