I don't think all of the countries are counting deaths thoroughly. Actually, I'm not sure Florida is either.

But much of the US total is explained by the fact that the US is big. It's in 20th for deaths relative to population size. Not great but not the worst either.

The UK is in 29th and looks likely to drop to 31st behind Ukraine and Russia in the near future, assuming omicron doesn't change everything.

BREAKING: More than 800,000 people in America have now died since the pandemic started, more than in any other country

At least 800,156 confirmed deaths in the United States have been traced to the coronavirus as of Monday, according to a rolling tally by NBC News. That's more than the populations of Boston, Washington, D.C., or Seattle. Almost two years into the pandemic, one doctor said he expects the country's death toll to reach 1 million at some point in 2022.
