"If we had a functional two party system..."

But this is also a product of a dysfunctional constitution. It would be more healthy to have more than two parties. Then, if one went off the rails, folks could move their allegiance more easily. But the way the constitution allows votes to be gerrymandered and allocated in favour of small states, and the way in which incumbent senators are incredibly difficult to replace means the bit where senators and house people represent the will of the people is no longer the reality.

It's a train wreck and terribly sad to watch. And alarming too. Because for four years under Trump, the US acted like a dictatorship. And there's no guarantee it won't happen again, especially because Trump hasn't been thrown in jail for attempting a coup.

And politics should be subject to the choices the people make, not the courts.

If we had a functional two party system, congress would enacts laws based on the majority.

A majority of Americans want universal background checks before guns can be purchased, like 90%. Yet...

60%+ want women to have the choice for an abortion.

As for holding Trump & co. accountable, too many republicans fear a primary where Trump puts his thumb on the scale.
McCarthy doesn't even hold the 'fringe' in his party accountable, thus making them the ones' in charge of the asylum.

The SCOTUS is a religious cabal at this point, imposing their religious beliefs on All.
I don't know HOW we will survive if they in essence revoke Roe.
