I don't know who Lara Logan is. What she said was probably rude and crude. But I wouldn't make a big deal about it. I really dislike this idea that people are so delicate they can't hear certain words or abide poor comparisons.
There are many people who know almost no history, and their only idea is that most wars are about good versus evil - and so Nazis and Jews. It's kinda limiting to have only one comparison to make outside of US history.
I decided long ago to use Nazi references almost never. The holocaust wasn't the only nasty thing to happen. But it was a nasty thing. Maybe Lara should learn some other bits of history so she has a quiver full of arrows. If she needs another example of genocidal events, she could try the Mongol hordes. No one much cares about references to them.
