...I went to Big Lots and sat in five or six and picked the cheapest on that was comfy. All the bells and whistles are just annoyances to my old curmudgeon arse. You will not have to sleep in it full time. It will be useful for those times that ya can't get to sleep or even comfortable in the bed or when the wife or whoever is working or sleeping and ya don't want to get in the way. If there is any way you can raise the recliner about four inches (small platform perhaps) it will be much easier to get into and out of. Otherwise you will have to have to have help to get up. You should have an assist belt

that the mz can use to pull you up. The tongue on the belt is long enough she can grab on to it and pull with her legs and noe lean way over and pull with her back. It will also be easier on you for her to pull on the belt rather than pulling on ya arms. Another plus for the belt instead of the arms is that you can help life with ya arms on the arms of the recliner.

Tell the mz she heeds to start running wind sprints and practicing sandwich and beer fetchings and also to come take ya to the whizzer whenever a commercial comes on. Keeping her busy during your recovery will help keep her from worrying about you so much.

You had toild me earlier that you spent quite a bit of time in a comfy recliner after your hip replacement. I got a a packet of all kinds of information from the Surgeon's office staff last week going over pretty much everything except details of what I can actually sleep in besides a flat bed with pillows jammed everywhere to keep me from crossing legs . That sounds like fun.... Not..

So I sent a note via My Chart to Doc's PA asking about a good recliner because it is Good Friday shopping sales and I want to get whatever I need while the getting is still good.. She agreed. She also said a good recliner would be great as long as the seat is high enough from the floor that when I sit my thighs and hips are level. I reckon you gotthe same counsel.

So began searching for available power recliners yesterday and most places like Ashley for example has a back order and delivery well beyond my surgical date in January.
There is a local store close by that we went to look and I spent time with a very pleasant store service rep and asked him to please show me what they have that is in stock and deliverable before Christmas. So we eliminated a lot of recliners that way that I sat in to try out.

I narrowed my choice down to two and finally after a bit made the decisin to purchase the more expensive one because it had more adjustment than the other one and I could really get comfortable in it because of that for both sleep and sitting. It has a power lumbar support that is adjustable as well as the headrest and of course the reclining part of the chair and it comes with a hidden cup holder, which seems to be the most important part to me... lol!!

So I am somewhat excited as we needed another piece of furniture in the family room anyway as I got rid of an older recliner lastyear and never replaced it and likely will replace the loveseat there whichhas been taken over by my 60 pound Red Heeler with part Yellow Lab for his bed. He loves that sofa...

So, is this what you used to sleep in and rest in on your recovery from your hip surgery? I just think, don't know, that it might be better than trying to wrestle getting onto our bed and trying to not do something stupid to have the hip come out of the socket..

Are you going to spend time in your recliner after the knee replacement?

I am awaiting that procedure also as my knee on same side as the hip replacement is bone on bone also..

I asked if we could both at same time while I am under the anesthesia and was told no.. I guess its a bit much for a person to tolerate.

Anyway, can't wait for my recliner to arrive. A really bad arthritic hip joint becomes truly annoying and keeps your entire leg in an uproar and in my case, my right foot as well. My hip is actually frozen in place. The ball does not rotate or move at all in the socket.. SO I have zero leg joint rotationwhichis wreaking havoc on my leg motion and stepping when I walk.
