...the hosp will give you a walker to take home with you and you won't be on it long enough to warrant the expense. You won't need a walker for more than a few days. After that you will be on a cane.

...the surgical team will put a pair of really tight white stockings on ya to prevent blood clots. I rather have blood clots. The stocking might look great on a stripper but not so good on an old wore out jar head. Besides, it's like putting a marshmello in a piggy bank.

...ya will also get a brace for the leg and some serious instructions on how far you can bend etc. The hip is a ball and socket kinda thing and it is held in place by the same thing that holds the original in place, nothing but tendons and muscles. If you bend to far this way or that you can pop it out. I didn't have a problem with mine, but those who have say it is a real vocabulary expander. Good news is that ya don't have to go to the hospital to get it put back in place, your local fire department paramedic can put it back in. Works the same as any other dislocated hip.

...pain pills? Don't take any more than you abxolutely have to. I took em at bed time for the first day or two and then took one right before physical therapy.

...sleep a real problem. Make sure ya got a recliner ya can get into and out of all by yourself. Ya may have to sleep in it for a day or two and ya will probably want to nap in it from time to time. Also get yaself one of them bottles ya can whiz in while sitting down.

...you will lose weight during the recovery process. Being unable to run to the fridge during every commercial is sommething you will give up without thinking about it. There is a lesson in there somewhere.

...feb 4th I will be joining you in misery as they are gonna replace the first of two knees that are bone on bone arthritic.

...another thing about the walker, it is just there for the balance issues. Ya not gonna need it for that for long.

...I will drop ya more info as I think of it. I really need to "Defragment" my mind one of these days.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!

How am I?
Exhausted after seeing what you have in front of you.

I am a physical trainwreck but I keep going.

I was up praying most of the night for the captain. My heart goes out to him. My problems are small compared to his, and yours.

Soon I will become the bionic man. LOL!!
Hip replacement is scheduled for January 20th. 7:30 a.m. downtown Cincinnati at the premier Hospital in southern half of Ohio. Christ Hospital. I need to arrive there at 5:30 a.m. which means leaving my house at 5: 20 a.m. IF there is not ice or snow on the roads. Miz micro will be a basket case if there is. She is terrified of snow or ice. Did I mention she does not like being on the road when it is dark also? lol!!!

SO now that it is set I am actually nervous somewhat. I need to start accumulating more things I will need post surgery. Ribs was great sharing that stuff and I have a list. I already have the shower safety bench seat, a good Rollator, getting a new walker that is smaller with wheels on front and glides on back for inside the house.

I re-did my entranceway int o the house earlier this summer so I have three landing size steps to the front door. They are 5 feet wide by 30 inches deep and only a 5 inch height. That is manageable and allows for a walker to be used easily. I did this intentionally planning ahead.

My hip is hurting and locked up. Leg cannot rotate at all. My shin bone and ankle/foot joint and foot are always on fire with numb sensation from landing ASKEW when walking.
My troubles are tiny compared to most others so I am thankful and just can focus on others.
