Most of the stuff progressives think of as advances are in fact just returns to the collective puritan beliefs of earlier eras. You want a broad highway in which people are allowed to believe and say and do most of what they wish, so long as it isn't damaging (and not damaging in a trivial sense) to others.

If they'd only attack extreme cases instead of marginal ones, they'd have a lot of support. But instead they mob people for non-compliance with their pure principles and make themselves victims over a cup of spillt milk.

No one sensible wants this treading-on-eggshells society to last.

And I agree with your assessment.

Eric Adams won NYC mayor race, he was a cop & is a moderate.

A socialist running in Buffalo NY lost, she lost to the man she beat in the primary, he decided to run as a write-in & succeeded.

'Progressives' lost.

Extremes on either side are toxic.
