They live in their own alternative reality that has no connection, not only with the rest of America but also with the rest of the world.
Basically, no one takes their nutso ideas seriously except themselves. And yet they are so desperate to be thought of as thoughtful people.
The one or two who came here always thought they could launch new conspiracy theories when the old ones got embarrassing. Always brought with them links to dodgy sources of information. Never learnt. So there's something about the way they are willing to be sequentially gullible that sets them apart. Maybe they just don't have a framework of knowledge with which to defend themselves.
