De
that is a gorgeous hand carved chest! I have my mom's Cherry and lined cedar chest as well but it does not have the ornate carving that yours does! That is awesome!

The BMW of that age if it is in really nice condition is likely worth a lot of money to Motorcycle collectors..

Its British and Old and has a Sidecar.. Three really good things in its favor.. A great family heirloom.
Mrs. De could ride in the side car with the rifle and you could drive while she shoots your au natural meals on the wooded acreage. If you were the shooter you would starve to death... Laughing Laughing

Ya done good youngun.. Your mom would be and should be proud. Ya made something of yerself and are in process of doing that same thing for your son.

Great job. I think I would simply have a shipper pick up the motorcycle and bring it east rather than do the Tour de United States again.. That wore me out just reading your updates!

Helping my son with his move was the main reason for dropping everything and going to California. After he'd been there for just one month, his landlord gave the entire building notice to leave by the end of October. Joey doesn't have a car, so helping him (and his roommate, equally car-less, who had the vast majority of the belongings) was something we wanted to do. But sooner or later, we HAD to go to California to retrieve the cedar chest shown below. Without saying anything to me, my mother had specifically told my brothers and sister that it was for me. An appraiser might give it a monetary price, but the value I place on it is inestimable for that reason. Like most of us, I loved my mom. I guess you could say that the stars aligned to get us back to a state we hate.

There will be another such trip, one day. My father-in-law has willed his antique BMW motorcycle and sidecar to my wife. The motorcycle is a '56, and the car is a '54. It runs well. I have no idea what it's worth but, again, it's priceless to us.
