Exactly.
I'm all for prosecuting actual sexual assault. Date rape drugs are clearly used for exactly this purpose. They should throw the book at people who do this.
It's a total disservice to all women when some women (usually together with their greedy lawyers) either lie or use the terminology to describe a non-event or an obvious miscommunication. There's almost always a financial motive behind these claims. US law appears to be set up in a way that makes lying about sexual encounters extremely lucrative for women in this category.
But almost no one in the media dares say it. Some women lie. Some men assault women. But no one wants to mention the absolute epidemic of the former. They publicise their claims following the dreadful principle "believe the women", rather than "follow the money" or "the presumption of innocence".
It was already happening within corporations and in high profile cases like Jim Carrey's one before metoo. Now it is everywhere, with people like Virginia Giuffre chasing the big bucks over and over. And people treat her with respect, as if she hasn't already been found to have accused people like Bill Clinton who verifiably weren't where she said they were. A person with her record ought not to be allowed in a courtroom.
