After years of negotiation, an agreement to set a global minimum tax was reached by nearly 140 countries in an effort to curtail tax havens.

The pact came together after Hungary, which had sought sweeter terms, agreed to back the 15 percent global minimum tax, joining two other important holdouts, Ireland and Estonia, which ratified the deal on Thursday.
