You may be right. He's been denigrating the UK for pandering purposes. So I guess that's his method.

The loss of the order was obviously a real dent in French prestige. So there's a major negative in there too.

He's very much disliked in the UK. But I'm not sure there are better alternatives. French politics is not much fun to follow. Don't remember them ever having a president I cared for.
