Re: “This darn feed tube they put in me was pumping so much food to me my body couldn't process it and I got so constipated I thought I was going to freaking blow up”
In early December 2019, I had a kidney stone that was making me throw up every ten minutes. At the E.R., they gave me opiates. Those suckers constipated me so badly that it was probably the most painful thing I've ever experienced... including what was to come. I spent over 3 hours sitting on the john, having to go but not able. Thinking about it creeps me out even now.

Three weeks later, I had my heart surgery. I was so paranoid about a repeat of what I'd just experienced that the doctors actually put "Allergic to morphine!" in my record and I recovered on little but tylenol. That's not entirely true since they DID shoot me up with fentanyl when I was in the I.C.U. (days 1 and 2), but they also shot a WHOLE bunch of laxative into me. I didn't get seriously constipated.

But in the hospital's heart ward (days 3 and 4), a man was crying for hours in the room next door. I heard enough to know that he was stopped up. Opiates can mess you up pretty bad!

I don't have an opiate allergy, but I'm not planning to correct my record. I never want to be on them again. Sorry that you had the problem you did. The food pump might not be the cause.
