France cancels Washington gala, China issues warning in anger over U.S. nuclear submarine pact with Australia
France and China are both fuming over a new U.S. security alliance with Australia and Britain that includes selling Australia nuclear submarines. The announcement prompted France to cancel a Friday gala in Washington to mark the 240th anniversary of a French naval victory that helped the colonists win the American Revolution.
