The gist is this:
Covid is endemic, we ‘ll have to live with it, but we can limit infections to a large degree, and even more importantly hospitalizations and deaths to a very large degree.
Furthermore, since it is endemic, the unvaccinated sooner or later will get it, one way or another, with results that range widely in a very unfavorable way in many cases. One look at ICUs is enough to chill one’s spine.
It seems that while immunity is going down, for Pfizer for example, to 83%(which still is quite high), no hospitalization and death are still at 93%. Which is why they(FDA) have to figure out whether boosters are needed or not. As we’ve seen, nearly all healthy adults with breakthrough infections came out the other side with mild symptoms.
So, remains to be seen. Tomorrow we’ll know more.
