I just can’t fathom how a huge statue of a LOSER TRAITOR was sitting in a location as prominent as that one in Richmond for almost a century. That pedestal should just be blasted out and the circle redesigned in a 21st century fashion. It looks as dreadful, lonely, and ugly as the period it represents.

The wounds of that ugly civil war are still open, no doubt, and will not close as easily as removing the remnants of slavery and ugliness of the human condition in THAT America and even today’s America. But the ball is rolling. With the current political climate where everything is disputed and twisted around, it will take much longer, but it is moving.

A statue of Robert E. Lee was removed from its pedestal in Virginia’s capital. It was one of the nation’s largest Confederate monuments.
