Some of it is unavoidable, as vaccination is not proof against the delta variant. It just reduces the risks across the board - of getting it, being hospitalised and dying.

Do they publish numbers showing what proportions of US people who have been hospitalised or died were unvaccinated?

Deaths have climbed steadily in recent weeks after falling to the low 200s in early July — the latest handiwork of a contagious variant that has exploited the return to everyday activities by tens of millions of Americans, many of them unvaccinated.
