If the snippets I've seen are representative, it was not persuasive.
But that doesn't really matter. It's what happens next that is the question.
If the terrorists use Afghanistan as a base for international operations again, Biden's strategy will have failed.
And if Russia and China gain increasing influence because the West is perceived as a poor ally, again the strategy will have failed.
I hope his judgement is right that neither thing will occur. But it is a judgement issue. There is a risk he will be wrong.
Of course, I expect this to be disastrous for the people of Afghanistan. But the responsibility for that belongs to the Afghan government and army, even if it also reveals that we are not as committed to human rights as we claim.
