Indeed.

America joins the line of countries that gave up, which includes everyone else.

But I think the US had the right strategy there. Be the backbone the Afghan army needed. Let them do the hard work.

It would have taken another twenty years of backboning, but then a new generation of educated Afghans would have been in position to take control.

That would have demonstrated America's heroism and given you an almost invincible ally in the region over the long run.

I appreciate that there are people who think that wasn't going to happen. And that is why they decided enough is enough. But then I fall back upon the terrorism issue, which is a cost we will now bear.
