Sounds like the US is moving people in volume, at last.

The best available solution at this point is to evacuate fast and efficiently. So I'm pleased to see this.

It's a bit weird to see the Taliban apparently cooperating to some extent.

BREAKING NEWS

The U.S. ordered six airlines to provide planes to fly Americans and Afghan allies fleeing Kabul, picking them up from airbases outside Afghanistan.
Sunday, August 22, 2021 9:19 AM EST

Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III's order would help with the growing U.S. military operation evacuating Americans and Afghan allies from Kabul, the Afghan capital, the Pentagon said on Sunday.

Civilian planes would not fly into or out of Kabul, where a rapidly deteriorating security situation has hampered evacuation flights. Instead, commercial airline pilots and crews would help transport thousands of Afghans who are arriving at U.S. bases in Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
