...no lad, ya have to have a majority to pass anything in the house or the senate. Less than half is not a majority. If a majority was simply a plurality, the absence of the Texas dems would be irrelevant.

...the reason a majority is required is to keep one party of the other from showing up and passing laws while the other party isn't aware of the vote and is not available.

...Majority means more than half. Plurality means simply 'the most votes'. Lotsa difference.

In the Senate, issues are decided by what got the most votes, not whether it was 51 or not. And if you look at the meaning of the word 'plurality', you will see that when it's a binary decision, yes/no, yea/nay, up/down, there is NO difference between a plurality or a majority. In fact, the word plurality only has meaning when the vote is between THREE or more issues/candidates.
