I'm over here eating ice cream tonight. Do you remember when ice cream containers were 1/2 gallon? Then, a few years ago, they suddenly moved to 1.75 quarts. And today I notice that all the ice cream I'm buying is 1.5 quarts. That's 25% less in what seems like a very short time.

And then there's orange juice. It came in 64 ounce cartons only a year ago. The store brand still is 64 ounces, but all the name brands are down to 52. 18% less.

My favorite, though, is what they're doing with canned soda. Yes, the 12 oz 6-packs are still available, but they're just one liberal "we know what's best for you" vote away from being replaced with 7.5 oz 8-packs already on the shelf. What I find interesting here is how the soda companies introduced the new cans AS A FAVOR TO US - because they were supposedly being deluged with requests by health nuts to make the cans smaller. I don't know about you folks, but I think that a person who drinks soda in ANY quantity is a poor excuse for a health nut - but then I'm old fashioned. In any event, the new 8-packs have 17% less soda than the 6-packs.

You can see the direction things are heading. By this time next year, I expect CTJ will find that his boat fuel is being sold at a lower price but per 1.75 liter instead of gallon. You know, as a favor to him.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
