Although I didn't remember this incident, I figured that the shooter was probably mentally ill. In an overwhelming majority of the cases, the shooter is a truly sick individual who has been previously evaluated by psychiatrists, sometimes being medicated. Sometimes the medications worsen the psychosis and lead to the shooting.

Long was NOT an exception.

Long was a military vet with PTSD. Months before the mass shooting, police paid him a visit after 'a disturbance.' I can't find details on it, but I bet it was a doozy since they evaluated him for "an involuntarily psychiatric hold." An article says, “They called out our crisis intervention team, our mental health specialists, who met with him, talked to him.” Unfortunately, after talking to him they made the wrong decision. But what does it tell you about the guy that shrinks had to decide whether to have him committed shortly before the shooting?

Your article says nothing about this. Leftists and their news sources don't want people to associate mass shootings with mental illness. Consequently, they make up stupid things like, "He did it because he hated college students." Their posturing doesn't change the fact that the relationship between mental illness and violence exists and is strong.

Speaking of mental illness, how is yours coming along?
