Is it a window or a central unit ???

How many BTU's is it rated?

Did it just stop? IS it possible it just ICED UP because it is so hot and needs to thaw out? THAT is common to units when it is very hot and humid and temp setting thermostat is at is TOO low. The condenser and coils will freeze up.

IF you have not tried this already, set your temperature to around 80 or 82 degrees and see if that will bring down the humidity in the house and feel better.

AT best Air conditioners are only really designed to operate and cool about 15 to 20 degrees and lots of people set them at a much larger differential than that, hence causing icing up and then it stops...

I am wondering if that is what happened... It would make sense...

IF your outside temp is 100 degrees set your Air conditioning thermostat at 85 and let it run.. AFter the air is constant you can drop that a few more degrees but I would not go lower than 80...

Just some food for thought... FWIW....
