What's in a name? Why did your parents name you what they did? Do you know what your name actually means?
One of my favorite pastors name is Ronnie. He goes by Ron.
His mom and dad named him Ronnie because one day whole his mother was carrying him in her womb and she and her husband were driving home they pased a car lot named Ronnies Used cars... She loved the name Ronnie and consequently named Pastor Ron Hutchcraft "Ronnie" after the used car lot's owner. It's kind of amusing butthere is more significance to it than that.
The one who gave him life, his mother and father, LOVED that name and bestowed it upon the Son whom they they brought forth into this world...
Similarly and not accidentally, the same basis has been present in this world ever since God the Father and God the SON created the universe and the Heavens and planet Earth among all the others.
God the SON was the one who SPOKE and by HIS power created the earth, and the stars, and all living creatures including man. Man was different than all the others in that God the Son did something to man that he did ot do to all the rest of the animals he created.
He literally BREATHED into Man, and Adam became not just alive, but eternal because HE now had as part of HIM the very eternal breath of GOD inside of HIM..
ALL people are eternal beings and will never die.. We lose our worn out bodies but our loving Father and Creator is waiting to give us another new one, one that will last for all of eternity...
Once upon a tme long ago in Israel there was a man and woman named Mary and Joseph. Mary had the archangel Gabriel who stands before the throne of Almighty God visit her at night and told her what God's Plan for her life was and that she would bear the Son of God because he would take upon himself the form of and become a man in very flesh..
She was told what to name HIM and that brings us to our verse of scripture about this name.
Acts 4: 12 says " Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Jesus is the only name under Heaven in world history to be the only name that all men and women must come to seeking forgiveness of their sins and for the salvation of their eternal souls which JESUS gave us when HE breathed into ADAM.. And we are ALL descendents of Adam.
Because of Adam's sins against God everyone that is descended from him is born in sin and bears his sin..
When Jesus, that sweet, innocent, sinless baby who left HIS Throne in Heaven to take upon himself the form of a human being, SINLESS and pure, went willingly to that terrible Roman Cross and endured the pain and agony of tortuous death on that cross, HE paid the price by HIS own sacrifice for the penalty of our sins so that WE could be justified in the sight of The Father by HIS own blood offering on our behalf.
ALL we need to do is accept what HE did for US and ask forgiveness of our sins and He promised He would in no way cast us out or turn us away! He said to us, 'COME UNTO ME and I WILL give you eternal rest".
The Bible says in Phillipians chapter 2 and verse 10
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
The greatest name ever known to the human race is the name JESUS CHRIST. HE alone is worthy of our praise, our love, our eternal love and adulation for what HE DID on that Roman Cross for US some two thousand and 90 years ago.
Yes, HIS BLOOD sacrifce is sufficient and acceptable to GOD for our sins. Jesus blood has Justified us to the Father and has sanctified us in his own image...
SO I Ask you, what's in a name? My name means God's Love. You can look up the meaning of yours but let me be clear,
the ONLY NAME that matters and which is above every name of all time in world history, is the name of JESUS, for HE shall save HIS PEOPLE (those who call upon HIM) from their sins....
Won't you call upon the only name under heaven given to men by which we MUST be saved to esacpe the fires of hell for eternity and live in great Joy with the one who loves us and saved us by His own blood?
Trust in HIM alone today... Do not put it off one more minute....
