Tennis champion Naomi Osaka fined $15K for refusing to do press interviews during the French Open for the sake of her mental health

The tennis champion was hit with the hefty fine on Sunday after failing to attend a mandatory post-match news conference, making good on a promise to skip press during the tournament to protect her mental health. The fine was announced in a joint statement by the heads of the organizations that run the Grand Slam tournaments, saying Osaka "chose not to honour her contractual media obligations." She will be at risk of additional fines throughout the tournament and could even face suspension if she continues to refuse press.
