Smile” I am mystified by the confidence so many have in the safety of a new drug that hasn't had long-term testing and is not FDA approved. Are people unaware of the many times that things not well understood proved to be dangerous and later had to be limited or pulled from the markets? Off the top of my head, I can recall Agent Orange, lead-based paint and products, asbestos, cocaine in soda, DDT, the Ford Pinto, Rofecoxib (Vioxx), Roundup, Accutane, cigarettes, radioactive drinks (once thought to be good for you!), heroin cough suppressant (developed by Bayer), bloodletting, mercury, lobotomies, tapeworms, cyclomates, Red 40, Thalidomide, Yellow 5 and Yellow 6 food colorings. There are a ton more. These are things that were believed at the time by authorities to be safe. It was only later that the danger was uncovered.

Yet folks like weco eagerly shoot themselves up with a new technology that, to date, the FDA has not approved? They're nuts... the reason for the time-worn and supposedly tongue-in-cheek question 'If everyone else was jumping off of a cliff, would you do it too?'

Of all the sciences, Biology may be the one that is least understood. Chemicals put into a body may seem fine in a lab but behave very differently in the presence of the tens of thousands of proteins, hormones, ions, nutrients, wastes, platelets, antibodies, other medications, T-cells, K-cells, NK-cells, viruses, bacteria, red blood cells, white blood cells, gases, plasma, fetuses and so much more, in virtually INFINITE combinations, that are present in human blood and tissue. For people to casually inject themselves with a new technology, something that changes the behavior of the human body and hasn't undergone tests of more than 3 months is, to put it simply, mind-numbingly STUPID.

Now, I may do it too if I ever have to. So far I don't. But if I ever do, it will not be a casual decision. I'm not a fool.
