We attended the high school graduation of our granddaughter last night. It was held in the school district's football stadium (one of the largest stadiums in the US owned by a public school district, it cost $70 million to build):

They normally hold the graduation inside an arena, but due to the COVID they held them in the open-air stadium so that they could 'socially distance', but then you have to put-up with the weather, and as you can see, it rained and people got pretty wet. We were lucky, we had seats under the overhang but most people had to bring umbrellas or get wet, as most of the students ended-up. Note that there was nearly 1,000 students graduating. Of course, our granddaughter got her diploma early (they were being called-up alphabetically), about 5 or 6 minutes into the list, but then had to wait for the next 900 or so students to get theirs. They projected the ceremony up onto the Jumbotron and I took her picture from there:

We start-back tomorrow morning, with a stop in Waco to have dinner with friends first, so we don't actully head for home until Tuesday morning.

My wife and I leave early in the morning for Texas. We're going for the high school graduation, next Saturday in Katy, TX, for our #3 granddaughter, Ryan. We're driving, with two nights on the road, the 1st in Lordsburg, NM and the second in Boerne, TX. We'll start back on Monday the 24th, but not after making a stop in Waco that afternoon and evening to visit some friends. Then on Tuesday, we head out, going cross-country (no interstate highways) from Waco to Pecos for our 1st nightly stop. It looks like we'll be going though the heart of what appears to the real Texas 'oil patch' (I've never driven this stretch before). Our 2nd nightly stop will be Tucson, AZ. We'll arrive home on Thursday, the 27th, just ahead of the Memorial Day holiday traffic.

Note that this is the first road trip that we've taken in 18 months. The last time we were away from home overnight was when we drove-up to Fresno on Christmas Day, 2019, to see our new great-granddaughter, Marina, who had been born on November 12th. I think this is the longest period of time, since we've been married (it'll be 54 years in June), that we haven't gone somewhere overnight either on vacation or to visit family and friends.

I'll probably post some progress reports and maybe even a few photos of scenery and other memorable sights from along the way.
