My wife and I leave early in the morning for Texas. We're going for the high school graduation, next Saturday in Katy, TX, for our #3 granddaughter, Ryan. We're driving, with two nights on the road, the 1st in Lordsburg, NM and the second in Boerne, TX. We'll start back on Monday the 24th, but not after making a stop in Waco that afternoon and evening to visit some friends. Then on Tuesday, we head out, going cross-country (no interstate highways) from Waco to Pecos for our 1st nightly stop. It looks like we'll be going though the heart of what appears to the real Texas 'oil patch' (I've never driven this stretch before). Our 2nd nightly stop will be Tucson, AZ. We'll arrive home on Thursday, the 27th, just ahead of the Memorial Day holiday traffic.
Note that this is the first road trip that we've taken in 18 months. The last time we were away from home overnight was when we drove-up to Fresno on Christmas Day, 2019, to see our new great-granddaughter, Marina, who had been born on November 12th. I think this is the longest period of time, since we've been married (it'll be 54 years in June), that we haven't gone somewhere overnight either on vacation or to visit family and friends.
I'll probably post some progress reports and maybe even a few photos of scenery and other memorable sights from along the way.
