A cop has died after his head was stomped by a suspect who also attacked an elderly couple, sending both to hospital.
Cpl. Keith Heacook, 54, was declared 'clinically dead' on Wednesday at a Baltimore hospital, three days after he was allegedly attacked by Randon Wilkerson, 30.
The veteran cop had been responding to an early morning 911 call that Wilkerson had reportedly attacked his roommate at the Yorkshire Estates Community in Delmar, Delaware, on Sunday.
A second call came through moments later, to say Wilkerson had then crossed the street and attacked his neighbors; 73-year-old Steve Franklin and his wife Judy, 76.
Heacook went to investigate but soon stopped responding to dispatch. When backup arrived they found him unconscious. He was rushed to hospital but died days later.
It's not yet clear how Wilkerson allegedly got the better of the veteran cop.

Court documents allege Wilkerson entered the Franklins' home by knocking on the back door and claiming there was a disturbance at his own home.
He then allegedly punched Steve, a respected local fundraiser, and beat him to the ground with a glass angel figurine, telling him he was going to kill him.
Wilkerson then allegedly beat Judy with the glass figurine, leaving her with two broken eye sockets before walking out the front door.
Both victims were eventually taken to the hospital, and Judy was transferred to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. They are now both back at home and resting.
The court documents state that witnesses saw Wilkerson bringing his foot down on the head of the corporal repeatedly.
It's not clear whether or not Heacook was ambushed. It's also not clear if he was wearing a body camera at the time of the incident.
Dispatchers tried to reach Heacook after he responded to the scene, but did not hear back from the corporal.
Additional officers, including a Wicomico County Sheriffs Office Deputy and a Delaware State Trooper responded to the scene, when Heacook stopped responding to dispatch and found him unconscious.
Officers began performing First Aid on the officer until EMS arrived, at which point Heacook was taken to TidalHealth in Salisbury before being transferred to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with significant injuries to his head.
NBC Philadelphia reports that Heacook was declared 'clinically dead' at 12:48pm on Wednesday afternoon.
He remained on life support until his organs were donated.
