Interesting ... I think I will have to look into this, further, when I have some free time.

These "yutes" were charged with statutory rape, but the claim was that they "kept the girls in an apartment for eight days and repeatedly gang raped them." Seems to me that this warranted charges of kidnapping and out-and-out rape - the fact that they were underage just made it all that much worse. Kidnapping back then could easily get one the death penalty. I wonder why this was only considered a "morals case" of statutory rape?

The authorities appear to have nailed most of these "yutes" for the alleged crimes, but of course, Mayor D'Alesandro's lil' fair-haired boy got off without a scratch in spite of the fact that the other "yutes" identified him as an active participant in the rapes. And, because these other "yutes" had the unmitigated gall to implicate the mayor's son, the authorities then instigated an investigation into perjury. Hmmm ... I understand this was a "he said/he said," which can be hard to prove one way or the other, but I wonder about the "he said/she said" ... what did the girls ever say about Franklin Delano Roosevelt D'Alesandro's participation in their ordeal?

Interesting.
