Oh dear.

Still, the US is making loads and loads of doses, so I doubt this will have a big domestic impact. Also, the J&J vaccine is a bit less effective at combatting hospitalisations and deaths than the others so for me, its replacement in the supply chain is overall possibly benign.

By the way, the UK is approaching having given at least one dose to more than half the entire population of the country (nearly 70% of all adults). The virus is struggling to find victims to kill.

BREAKING NEWS

Future shipments of Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine from a Baltimore plant are on hold after about 15 million doses were ruined in a mixup.
Wednesday, March 31, 2021 5:59 PM EST

Workers at a Baltimore plant manufacturing two coronavirus vaccines accidentally conflated the vaccines’ ingredients several weeks ago, ruining about 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine and forcing regulators to delay authorization of the plant’s production lines.

The plant is run by Emergent BioSolutions, a manufacturing partner to both Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca. Federal officials attributed the mistake to human error.
