The EU is crazy with rage that its contract with AZ, written three months after the UK's, leaves them second in line.
And so, as the Italian scientist running their COVID programme admits, a political decision was made to withdraw it from use. There was no scientific evidence that there are any more blood clots than might be expected otherwise from patients receiving the AZ vaccine.
Thus the European vaccine programme is going even further behind and its citizens are dying at a higher rate than they need to.
This is the very definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
And, as it happens, the observed rate of blood clots from Pfizer is higher than that from AZ. No one has questioned Pfizer. Nor should they.
It's typical EU revenge-for-Brexit bollox. So glad we are out.
