Our Lucent Tech setup is still going, after transforming to Alcatel and now Nokia... They still peel off surpluses but the setup is still healthy... A buyout offer a few years back peeled some of the load off, stabilizing those of us remaining.. Dinosaurs in any case to have a defined pension plan...

124 multi-employer pensions are in “critical and declining” status, according to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. They’re projected to have insufficient funds to pay full retirement benefits within the next 20 years.
About 1 million workers are in such plans, according to the American Academy of Actuaries.
