Capitol Riots: Proud Boys Member Fired From Metro-North Job
BEACON, NY — A Proud Boys member from the Hudson Valley who was accused of participating in the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots was fired by his employer — Metro-North Railroad.
In a statement from Metro-North Railroad, President Catherine Rinaldi said Will Pepe, 31, of Beacon, was fired Tuesday for conduct unbecoming a Metro-North employee after "affording Mr. Pepe the due process to which he was entitled under his collective bargaining agreement."
"We made it clear since the Jan. 6 attack on our nation's Capitol building that the apparent participation by one of our employees was unacceptable and inconsistent with Metro-North's values," she said.
Pepe, who worked at the Brewster Metro-North rail yard, was charged by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority with violating its attendance policy and time fraud by calling in sick Jan. 6.
He was indicted Jan. 29 in a District of Columbia federal court on charges including conspiracy, civil disorder, unlawful entry of restricted building or grounds and disorderly and disruptive conduct.
