We're back to where we were in late November. The UK covid variant - we call it the Kent variant - was extremely contagious and it seems to kill more people too.

It created a third wave in the UK between December and January. I hope other countries don't get it.

Meanwhile, the UK has reached a vaccination milestone. The number of shots given has reached 13.6m. We have 68m people. Some people have had their second shot. But 13.6m/68m is 20% nevertheless. In a few days, 20% of people will have had one shot or more, which means the risk of hospitalisation or death for the most vulnerable groups is now within a few weeks of being very small.

Feels like a corner is being turned for the UK as a whole that people over the age of 70 are now nearly out of the woods.

I suppose the next band will be people aged 60+ and people that are 50+ with existing conditions.
