I was nearly right. The British judge said that the US was not capable of preventing him from killing himself. A bit like the Epstein thing.

He's still in jail. It's just it's a British one.

Interesting.

Maybe they don't trust US justice. And who does these days, given the overwhelming intrusion of politics into it.
