...as it was my father's birthday. He was the first baby born in Monroe, Michigan in 1920, and to commemorate that, the city gave my grandparents a ton of coal. Now back in 1920, a ton of coal was a big deal. Yes, my father would have been 101-years old today. Unfortunately, he died of pancreatic cancer in 1989:
