In one way, I agree in principle. The problem is that there's just no easy way to figure out who really is in need right now without making the payments convoluted and causing delay. [The way I'd do it is you reverse it out in taxes for people who earned let's say $150k in 2020.]

At the same time, the economy, taken as a whole, could use the stimulus of consumption. So you need to be thinking along those lines as well. It isn't about clo's needs as a consumer. It's about the people you'd be buying things from if you had some extra spending capacity.

IMO, unless you've been on unemployment this year, or lost a family member to Covid, why should you get the aide?

Even if you're back to work now, you're probably still trying to catch up. And the victims had to be buried, another financial burden, they deserve help.

Retirees, including myself, government workers that haven't missed a paycheck, along with others that have been able to work shouldn't really qualify.
