From the PM's letter, the trade deal sounds very neat. Almost exactly what I hoped for: constructive for both sides while respecting our independence from each other.
What I wanted was a two tier Europe. One Europe that wished to integrate internally (laws, currencies, travel etc) and build a tariff wall against the world. Another Europe of sovereign entities that simply wished to trade, both internally and with the whole world. It seems like that is approximately what this is, with the UK occupying the latter space. I imagine some others will want to join us later on: thinking of peripheral countries like Norway, Iceland, Ireland, Turkey and Israel.
The biggest loss to UK citizens is that we can no longer move to European countries as easily. Although I daresay it won't be impossible.
It seems possible that we might become friendly neighbours instead of feuding family members.
