Our oldest son (he'll be 51 in March) had hip replacement surgery today. He lives in Texas and the surgery was done at an orthopedic surgical center near Houston. The surgery only took a little over an hour and if all goes well, he'll be home tonight. He had to self-quarantine for 10 days before the surgery and then test negative for the virus. They say that he'll have his first physical therapy session this afternoon yet and how well he does will determine if he can go home (his doctor makes his patients WALK out of the surgical center, no wheelchairs for them). For the first three or four days, he'll be equipped with an infusion pump that will administer pain killers. After that, he's supposed to be pretty much on his own with just Tylenol. He'll have to do physical therapy for a few weeks, but hopes to be back to work after the New Year (of course, he does much of his work online and using Zoom, so I suspect that he'll be back to 'work' much sooner than that).
