I write OMG not because it is sad that the senior adviser to the secretary of defence might think it was a bad idea to go to war against Nazi Germany. Most people think having a war against a country led by an evil man attempting to conquer the world while exterminating entire races was one of the better wars to have. But I understand a lot of Americans were isolationists, and so thought it was a better idea to hide their heads in the sand.
No. That wasn't why I wrote OMG.
I wrote OMG because apparently the new senior adviser to the secretary of defence, a position in which one would hope a person had a little knowledge about - checks notes - US defence, appears to be unaware of the fact that Hitler declared war on the US, and not vice versa. It wasn't a choice the US made. It was a choice Hitler made following Pearl Harbour.
Or, if he is aware of this really quite important historical detail, he apparently thinks the US should not have opted to defend itself against Hitler once he declared war on the country.
