You can't make Republicans become Democrats. But you can actually enact Dem policies and administer the government in the way that the majority said they wished you to. As best as you can against a hypocrite like McConnell. Try to pick up the votes of the one or two honest Republicans where you can.
Otherwise, Dem voters will lose their enthusiasm, exactly as they did under O. And the GOP will feel inspired.
