His comment about the US election system reminds me of his comment about the relative merits of the Italian and American health systems in the early stages of the pandemic.

It's fine that he is proud. But it's lazy to be reflexively smug and condescending in expressing it.

Don't elevate America over everyone else. The US is great and not greater or greatest. It can be so great that it leaves space for others to be great and not lesser or least.

Step off the pulpit. Joe. Don't be like Trump. Don't praise yourself. Leave space for others to praise America.

Sorry, Joe. The US election system is not, and never was, the envy of the world.

It is the worst election system of any advanced democracy. Period.

It also delivers a presidency and a congress that fails to reflect the will of the people, which is the thing, above all else, that the US constitution suggests it wants. Note, the US uses an electoral college and the senate awards two votes per state. Both produce results that are often ridiculous.
