I believe you are right Sire.
Looking at the windoze explorer . . .
Open to the external drive - - 'Organize' up top . .
Click it with the mouse, and select 'Folder Options'.
Select the 'View' tab. Turn on the 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives'.
Un-check 'Hide protected operating system files'. Apply and I now have
a light yellow folder titled '$RECYCLE.BIN' in the root directory
of my external drive.

I just deleted two sub-directories in mine.

Go back and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'
and re-check 'show hidden files'.

If this does not work, I would try buying a second external drive,
copy what I want to keep, then re-format the first external drive.
Then re-copy the stuff to the first drive.

Zim.

...know that, but I use the disc for tax stuff and during the process of filling em out sometimes there is a variance between the original entries and the final outcome. I don't want to clean the disc, I just want certain files to be unreadable.

...there is a recycle bin associated with C drive and I have a E and F as well. That's where I keep the files. If I delete anything from the C drive it goes into the recycle bin and I can shred it. Look back in the recycle bin and they are still there.

...I believe that there is a recycle bin associated with each drive. All deletes go into the respective recycle bin. If I disconnect the aux drive the files disappear from the recycle bin, so I know the files are on the individual drives.

...it's a giant clusterfuzzle PROMULGATED by the hillary / biden batshit crazy wing of the dem party.
