Instead of saying you want small government or big government, you just wish for a government that helps where it is needed, and leaves alone the things that markets do better.
Don't simplify. The right answer depends on the context.
Don't waste the opportunity by inverting the dull-witted approach of the GOP. Just because Trump was a terrible president doesn't mean socialism works. Governments can still be bloated and inefficient when scaled up too much. But do use the levers of power to reduce gross inequality, lawlessness and other harms and do use them to provide important common goods.
That's what it's for.
